Tell us a bit about yourself.

Thanks so much for having me! I'm originally French and lived in a variety of countries across Asia, Africa and Europe before moving to London in 2013. I initially moved here to work in advertising and soon realised there was something else for me out there. Ever since I made the big jump of becoming an actor, I appeared in numerous short films, web series and commercials. 2019 saw the release of a multi-award nominated short film 'Say Your Name' which was the first project I produced where I played the tormented lead for which I received two Best Actress nominations. I couldn't believe it when I got the emails!

The rest of 2019 and 2020 (before the world stopped) was just as busy, if not more as I co-founded Candid Broads Productions, which aims to produce entertaining female-led stories. Our first production under the new company was our award-winning webseries "Call It a Day" which has entered the festival circuit and done really well so far, with thousands of views online! We hope to get the series commissioned by 2021 to make it a TV series so exciting times ahead!

How do you stay inspired?

Watching what other filmmakers are doing, and hearing them talk about their experience. When we see the final product, a short film, a web series or even a feature, we don't realise how much work and sweat has been put into it. That's why I love joining Q&As or webinars when filmmakers talk about their process, their struggles in the making and their wins once everything is out in the world. I find it so inspiring!

Despite the difficult situation our industry is currently in, I've also noticed an unprecedented support from everyone and I've learned so much during the lockdown whilst joining webinars and talks made available online, it's really helped me push the pre-production of my next project through as well as motivate me as an actor overall.

What advice would you give to other creatives?

You have an idea, go out there and make it happen! Don't wait for your agent, or the magical casting to come through, just contact people you trust and work hard with fellow creatives to bring your vision to life. It's so rewarding when you see your baby come to life! I would also say, learn another skill. I learned producing because I wanted to tell my own stories and I absolutely love it. Use this down time that we have to learn to write, direct, produce, anything in relation to the industry and you'll see how handy it is in the future when we're allowed outside again.

PLUG TIME! What are you working on at the moment?

I'm currently working on our next Candid Broads production, 'I AM'. This short drama will seek to bring a new perspective on mental illness and break stigmas that still surround schizophrenia. I'll be playing the lead Gabi and cannot wait to go back on set and start shooting. Stay tuned for more details on our Candid Broads website and social media!
